Service Description

Spend 10 lessons in-person or online with the magic of Odissi, allowing the dance to transform you in therapeutic ways. Having learnt from many different schools of Odissi, working intensively with Iyengar teachers on the proper alignment of the postures and having studied the theoretical concept of contemporary dance forms, Ganga Devi selected the best from each tradition and offers this knowledge forward to her students. She adds a unique flavor in her classes by incorporating these holistic methods. Classes will be taught with three different approaches of Odissi in mind: Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, Nrityagram and Guru Mayadhar Raut. We will familiarize ourselves with the Odissi vocabulary, aesthetics, basics, abhinaya (story telling), theory, ritual and bhava of the dance. Exploring both of the aspects of the dance: Nritta (purely abstract, ornamental dance) and Abhinaya (storytelling through mudra, gesture).
